DDU-GKY stands for the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, which is a government initiative in India focused on skilling and placement for rural youth. It aims to reduce poverty and provide gainful employment to rural youth, particularly those aged 15-35. The program is part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and is implemented through a three-tiered structure.
  • Objective

    To skill rural youth and place them in gainful employment, contributing to poverty reduction and economic growth.

  • Target group

    Rural youth aged 15-35, with a focus on women and marginalized communities.

  • Training and Placement

    DDU-GKY provides training in various sectors, including retail, hospitality, health, and construction, with a focus on placement-linked skills.

  • Eligibility

    Rural youth from NRLM Self Help Groups aged 18-35 years are typically selected for training and placement.

  • Mandatory Requirements

    The program mandates that 33% of the trainees be women and that 50% of the funds are earmarked for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
