The Pro Bono Club operates under the Nyaya Bandhu Scheme of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India. The Nyaya Bandhu Scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government aimed at creating a strong and accessible platform to deliver free legal services throughout the country. Through this initiative, registered practicing advocates who are willing to offer pro bono services are efficiently connected with eligible individuals.
The Pro Bono Club at Bharat College of Law was established in 2025 with the objective of reinforcing the pro bono legal system in India by actively involving law students and advancing the goals of the Nyaya Bandhu Scheme. Members of the club are known as Pro Bono Associates (PBAs).
Objective
To improve the quality of free legal services and enhance access to justice for marginalized communities (EWS, SC/ST, women, elderly).
Structure
Club is established in Bharat College of Law, consisting of selected students and a dedicated faculty in-charge.
Activities
PBAs assist with pro bono litigation, perform community legal awareness campaigns, conduct research, and promote alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
